Dear friends, do you have your wildest dreams? Very often, the answer I hear about is traveling around the world. Maybe you once had this wild thought, but did you ever take any action before everything it’s too late?
I had this wild dream of traveling around the world before I entered the university. Like most other people, I often have the impulse to go to new places whenever I see someone on TV sharing his long exciting journey from home to, maybe an unknown village in Africa or a lonely field in Europe, but I never do anything, even search for the new places I wanna go.
However, things changed since I joined in the cycling association of our university, CASDU. I still remember the day when they were showing their riding trip map, I saw attractive highlights indicating the places they’ve riden to: Luoyang(洛阳_，Dunhuang(敦煌)，Guilin(桂林)，Shangri-La(香格里拉)...... for the very first time, apart from that kind of impulse, I felt my dream was actually coming towards me.
And I didn’t let it pass this time. I soon became a member of CASDU that day, longing for the exciting trips. There they came. Searching new places, designing a routine, booking resteraunts, having first-aid training classes...all those days were like dreams when I look them back right now, but who can assert that I wasn’t realising my dream?
Yes, I am realising my dream, in university. So to me, university is like a bike. You need impulse, courage and action. You desire to explore new places. You don’t hesitate any more, but just start out to plan and ride. Like what CASDU once said ‘All you need is just a courageous heart.’ Then you’re on your way.
In university, we always feel ambitious and want to change the world. People may laugh at you. But please remember, they’re just admiring you, for you did what they couldn’t, like we admire those on TV who have traveled around the world, while we simply have the impulse of doing it, sitting on a cozy sofa.
University is full of possibilities. What makes it different, I think, it’s not only your wild dreams, but also your courage and action. University is a caring mother, she provides plenty of space for setting your dreams. University is a strict father, he forces you to be brave enough and dare to choose. University is also a company, who witnesses your pursuit of your dream.
And that is the university as I see.
